Pharmacy now covers more modern services like: patient care, clinical services, reviewing medications for safety and efficacy (Health Outcomes) and drug information. Basically, they are the primary health professionals who optimize medication use to provide patients with positive health outcomes.
Pharmacy can cover various areas of the practice; hematology/oncology, infectious diseases, ambulatory care, nutrition support, drug information, critical care, pediatrics and many others.
Pharmaceutical translation has to be extremely accurate in its meaning and convey exactly what is in the original text. Any ambiguity or error in the translation can have severe consequences, whether financial or tragic.
Our translators are professional linguists with over 3 years and 100,000 words translated in their specialised field. The vast majority of them hold the diploma in translation (diptrans) from the Chartered Institute of Linguists or its national equivalent and have made their careers and professions out of translating medical and pharmaceutical texts with complex terms.
The vast majority of texts we translate regard 'health outcomes'.
The European Medecines Agency (that regulates medical products/pharmacy across EU) requires that the below is translated into the EU's 24 official languages:
Summary of Product Characteristics (SmPC)
Patient Information Leaflet (PIL)
Essentially this is marketing information, instructions for use and ingredients used in the medication. Also it will invlove translating patent applications, general marketing and advertising.
The SmPC as well as being a guide on how to use the medecine to healthcare professionals, it is also a legal document. It acts as the marketing authorisation for that medicine.
When seeking approval by the EMA by pharmaceutical companies, they also have to seek approval from their own national drug regulatory authority.
Apart from being MCIL and MITI qualified and specialising in their sub-fields of medicine, all our medical translators have years and many thousands of words translated so your medical translation can be delivered consistently clear and accurate. Our translators may use glossaries of previously used complex medical terms as well as CAT (Computer aided translation) tools which can increase consistency with technical terms if there is a lot of repetition.
