Hindi or modern standard Hindi (हिन्दी)

Hindi along with English (second language) are the official languages of India.

Hindi is very similiar to Urdu when spoken, although Urdu is written with the Perso-Arabic script.

When spoken, Hindi has many dialects dependant on region, although generally Hindi is spoken in Northern and Central India and understood by most other states in India along with Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan.

Bollywood films use the Gujarati dialect of Hindi, as they are made in Bombay (Mumbai).
